First and foremost: www.greensideestates.com is 100% free to the residents of Greenside Estates.
The website design AND hosting services for this site are being provided by D-Mack Media at absolutely NO CHARGE to you whatsoever!
The owner of D-Mack Media has been a resident of Greenside Estates for over 13 years.
We were hoping this website would develop into a friendly and useful community for the residents of the Greenside Estates townhouse complex that is home to over 276 families.
As you may have learned, as we just did, the Strata council has taken it upon themselves to allow someone else to host and maintain the Greenside website.
For your information: D-Mack Media submitted a website proposal to the Greenside Strata council over 1 year ago which was to be presented at the Annual General Meeting in 2006. Unfortunately there were many other issues discussed at the meeting and our proposal was not presented. We were advised by the council that due to the other 'issues' a website could not be considered.
There was a 'survey' in the February-2007 issue of the Greenside Newsletter and one of the questions was whether or not a website would be beneficial to the residents. We answered the survey questions but had no idea that the Strata Council would take the results and then proceed with the site without a proper vote. Basically, 18 'yes' responses on a survey, out of 276 units, does NOT constitute an accepted resolution.
It is also very unfortunate that D-Mack Media was not contacted by the Strata Council after they made the decision to go ahead with a website - especially considering our proposal from over 1 year ago.
We also have a concern about the statement in the March Newsletter "...The only cost at this time would be the cost for the web hosting account, which is $106 per year...". Does this mean that down the line there will be other 'costs' involved?
Having said all that, if anyone would still like to see this (greensideestates.com) website develop further, please drop us a line. Perhaps this could turn into a blog, buy and sell or discussion forum for questions and concerns from the residents.
