I personally encourage legitimate debate in the mail room (other common area postings are contrary to OUR bylaws). However, I would respectfully request that one question be asked of all who post in the mail room "do you owe strata fees or levies?" (not bylaws fines etc), the real meat of the matter. You might be very surprised how many mail room complainers are free loading upon you and I and all of us all collectively. Do yourself a favour, just ask. Another very legitimate debate is replacing the "out of control council". Very possible, it's in the bylaws; it's in the Strata Property Act, also many precedents on the matter in the Supreme Court of BC. Does it take guts, passion, hard work and the willingness to fill the void created, well frankly, YES. Just like the last Provincial Election that I would personally like to do over, it takes all of the above, no real difference. I am more than happy to have real debate with anyone but one must at least think that I am comfortable with the decisions that I make as one member of a seven member Strata Council. Unless you have something brilliant or breath taking to say that would give me real pause to ponder, you must at least accept I am not likely to change direction. However, if I have erred in a point of law or on interpretation of our bylaws or the Strata Property Act, that would give me pause but come prepared, please come prepared because I do.
