Well, living in strata is formidable. We want independence but we will never have that, if one wants that, you will have to buy a fee simple (single family) home.

We can all get our knickers in a knot over gardens, rocks, bikes and hockey nets, which are all legitimate strata issues and against our bylaws.

However, I want to bring up the issue of home based businesses. Greenside does not insured for these items, Greenside only insures for what the strata is registered for under the official strata plan, in that official strata plan, it is residential ONLY.

So, daycares (licensed or not), massage therapy, hair salons and the like are not insured under our policy. Meaning, we as owners are not insured and totally exposed for these types of activities. We are very exposed and this is a big problem! Now, there has not been a problem in 33 years but by the token we have not had a fire in 33 years either but we still insure in any event.

So when one comes to a Council meeting over rocks, trampolines or an uninsured car, I really have bigger fish to fry, so unless I / we have erred on the bylaws your issue is not likely going to change. If you want change, lets talk about liability, siding, roofs, gutters, storm and sanitary systems; these are the big ticket item here.

If you don’t like my style or the rest of the Council, then boot our butts off and elect your alternative. Please make sure your alternative will make sure that the insurance policy is renewed because you might be very surprised how single mined new Council members can be. They see the trees but not the forest they have to deal with and it really is a jungle.
